Rockport Reservoir and State Park is located just south of I-80 at Wanship (Exit 156), 40 miles east of Salt Lake City. The dam is about 1.5 miles south of the junction. An example of the use of State Park facilities includes the following recreational activities; wakeboard boat rentals, jet ski rentals, sea doo rental, personal watercraft rentals, waverunner tours and charter, cross country skiing, fishing from bank or ice, boating, sailing and windsurfing, swimming, picnicking, snowmobiling, camping, and water skiing lessons. Rockport Lake, also called Wanship Reservoir, is a large reservoir on the Weber River midway between Kamas and Coalville, and not far from Park City, Utah and Provo, Utah. It is easily accessible from the Wasatch Front and is a state park which is open year round. Rockport Reservoir State Park is one of six reservoirs built by the Bureau of Reclamation in the Weber watershed to provide subsidized water to the northern Wasatch Front. It impounds spring runoff from the western Uintas, storing it for use throughout the year.
